Yesterday we finished super late, and the girls needed some rest, so we didn’t manage to get going until after 9. Today, we need to slow down a bit; otherwise, they’re going to rebel!
After having breakfast at 7-Eleven, we head to Tokyo Tower. The visit is highly recommended—the views from the top are worth it! You buy the ticket at the entrance, and they give you a time to go up (we only had to wait about 10 minutes). First, you take an elevator to the main deck, where they take a picture of you that you can later buy in a large format, but if you don’t want to pay, they give you a small postcard-sized version. Then, you take a second elevator that takes you all the way to the top. You can stay up there as long as you like, so we spent some time admiring Tokyo from above.

On the way down, there are plenty of little souvenir shops. We did something silly and bought a mystery box with random souvenirs—stuff we would never have picked ourselves. But hey, it’s not like they were going to give us a Nintendo, right?
Today, the heat is hitting hard again, so on our way back, we decide to stop in the Omote-sando neighborhood and take a stroll through this elegant area. Around one in the afternoon, we stop at a burger place called Goku Burger 😂 We really enjoyed the meal, especially the kids, who were amazed that they even give you gloves so you don’t get messy eating such a monstrous burger 😂

Then, it started drizzling, so we decided to head back to the hotel for a bit of rest. After a short nap, we return to Shinjuku, since yesterday we rushed through it.

We take the chance to play a few rounds at an arcade, try our luck at the claw machines (I almost snagged a Koopa plushie!), race some Mario Karts, and even play a rhythm game. Then, we stop at a pub to grab a drink and rest for a bit, and in the end, we decide to have dinner there with some shared dishes. The atmosphere is lively, full of Japanese people grabbing a drink after work. The food was great—some wings, a breaded steak… Not the most Japanese meal ever, but oh well!
After dinner, we keep strolling for a bit and finally spot Godzilla’s head from the street. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get up close to see it properly… I have no idea how we missed it yesterday since we walked right past here.

We keep walking around the neighborhood until it starts drizzling again, so we hop on the subway. When we get to the hotel, it suddenly starts pouring, so we have to make a mad dash to get inside! Completely soaked in just two minutes—classic tourist problems!
And that’s it for today—more adventures tomorrow!
